I Won a Tablet!

2 min read
Hehe, bet most of you thought of an Ipad or Kindle when I said that. But not one of those tablets, I won a graphics tablet in an art contest put on by this guy- www.furaffinity.net/user/sherw…
Some may wonder why I'm on FA. To be honest, it happened a few years back when I tried to spread my art onto different sites. That quickly died. I was very lucky to go around that site this past week and spot this contest.
The Challenge: Draw Shawn, a laid back meerkat who loves to surf. The Prize: An Intuos4 Tablet. So, I went to work, and two drawings later and not getting to sleep until 4 AM, I had this- www.furaffinity.net/view/10825…
And I won. This is the first online art contest I've won and the second in my life (first at Scout camp when I was like 14).
Throughout the whole experience, I was told and have learned that you only lose if you do not enter. So to those of you who would like to enter the contests dA are holding right now, do it. You will only fail if you do not try.
Well, the tablet should get here in the morning or Tuesday. And yes, I will be using it extensively.
See all yinz later.

LOTS of FAVE'S

1 min read
I left wanting to see how many fave's I would get in 2 years. The amount I received in just one year is amazing. The grand total of faves is 163!! That is a lot, and far too many to thank personally. So, I would like to thank all of you for liking my art and writing. In the coming months, I hope not to disappoint delivering art and writing that pleases the mind, excites the imagination, and touches hearts. With excerpts from "The Harp" coming exclusively to deviantART, and it's imminent publication, the many, many pieces of art done this past year (some colored I might add),the re-opening of commissions and the finishing of those I left behind. Contests, free requests, and much, much more.
Let's make this time a fun and interesting time. Stay cool, deviants, and I look forward to doing more art.

A Change. . .

2 min read
As many of you know, for the past year I have been serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This commitment was completely voluntary.
But, due to some unforeseen health problems, I am now home. I do not know when or even if I shall return to Pennsylvania to serve another year, but until I can make that decision, I can upload the many new art pieces that I have done over this past year. One of those pieces, I am pleased to announce, is the cover for "Legends of the North: The Harp". This cover is for the digital version of the book that will be released sometime later this year or next year, on it's previously placed release of December 2014.
Also, "The Harp" is very much on it's way and I am making strides in it. The book has been completely planned out and the pre-edited edition is being written right now. Soon, a new and official sneak peak will be exclusively on deviantArt for all to see.
I look forward to getting back in the groove of things and to start basically anew as new horizons open. Also, to see the many comments and fav's that I received through the year. It was good to see that even in my absence my art was still appreciated.

Surprise!

4 min read
Yep, that says it all. I have a little time waiting to write an email to write a surprise journal entry. It is hard to believe that it has been 2 months since I started my mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am currently serving in Hershey, PA. I love it here. The air smells like chocolate, literally. If any of you live in Hershey or near it and wish to meet me or want to hear more about my beliefs or what I do as a missionary, go ahead and leave a comment or request a missionary visit on mormon.org.
Hmm, I bet many of you have questions about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (or Mormons, as many know us as). No, we do not have 12 wifes. 1 is good enough for me. The story of how our church began is a rather long one, but I can tell of the very beginning.
It was started by a man named Joseph Smith in the 1800's When Joseph was 14, his family lived in a place where there was much religious excitement. Many churches argued over interpretations of the Bible and God's word and Joseph became worried of the salvation of his soul. He knew that he must be baptized to be saved, but into which church was the true church?
He visited many of the churches and became only more confused. While reading in the Epistle of James, he came over this scripture: James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God. Who give it to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." This scripture said that if anybody needed to know something, they should ask of God, who is the source of all truth.
So, one day, he went into the woods near his home. In a grove of trees, he began to offer up the desires of his heart. These are his words of what happened-
"I saw a pillar of light, exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun; Which descended gradually until it fell upon me. . . When the light rested upon me, I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name, and said, pointing to the other, "This is My Beloved Son, hear Him."
Joseph, saw God the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. Joseph asked which church was true and Christ told him to join none of them. For although they had the gospel, it had been twisted and changed throughout time that it was no longer true.

That is only part of the message we as missionaries share. God called Joseph Smith to be a prophet in these days and restore the fullness of the gospel and Christ's church once again on the earth.
I know it sounds a little crazy and hard to believe. But I testify to you good people that this is true. That Christ's church is once again on the earth. That a living prophet leads and guides The Lord's people in these the latter days. You too can also know of the truthfulness of my words by doing as Joseph did. Ask God. I promise you that if you sincerely ask God if my words are true, he will send you a witness by the Holy Ghost if it is true.
If you want to learn more, feel free to go to mormon.org where you can even request missionaries to come and teach who live near you. Trust me, there are some over there. My profile on mormon.org will be up soon and you can check it out as well. I believe you can post comments on it as well so if you wish to request some art or have a question about Legends of the North or my other projects, go ahead and ask. Hopefully most of you read this far.
Well, I hope to get another chance to post something in the future, but until then, See you in 2, devs. (actually, 22 months)
